Central and Wheat State Districts' Joint Meeting

 

With a record turnout for recent years, approximately 80 people gathered in Lake Ozark, Missouri, for the annual Central and Wheat State Districts' joint meeting on July 29-30.

 

Educational sessions were well attended, with presentations ranging from a wheat crop update, belting and food grade hose, food safety, energy savings and alternatives, color-coded inventory management, and combustible dust explosions, to pneumatic conveying.

 

The technical conference concluded with district business meetings. The Central District elected a new slate of officers:

The Districts will hold the 2011 summer joint meeting the last weekend in July at the Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Missouri.

 

The next event for the Central District is the winter meeting on Dec. 10. The group will meet at the New Theatre Restaurant for the production: "Sylvia," starring Cindy Williams.  

 

Texoma, Central and Wheat State Districts' Joint Spring Meeting

More than 75 milling industry professionals met March 4-5 in San Antonio, Texas, at the joint Texoma, Central and Wheat State Districts' meeting.

The opening reception and banquet kicked off on March 4, following a day of golf with nine teams.

The second day featured technical presentations on a wide range of topics including protein quality from a bakery's viewpoint; plant automation/controls; magnetic separation; improvements in HRW wheat varieties; energy monitoring and management; Swiss Milling School experience; filtration silencing solutions; and corrugation basics.

The three districts plan to join together again for their spring 2011 meeting in March, at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
