Melinda Farris
Executive Vice President
Melinda was promoted to
the position of executive vice president in October 2007, after serving
as interim executive vice president since June 2007. She is responsible
for implementing board policies, managing the association's overall
operations and staff, as well as IAOM’s in-house publications, which
include the International Miller, membership directory and
website. Melinda joined IAOM in November 2004 as director of
communications, and played a key role in several projects, including
formation of the Eurasia District and upgrades to IAOM communications.
Prior to joining IAOM, she was communications manager for the American
Chamber of Commerce in Russia.
Shannon
Henson
Director of Meetings and
Exhibits
Shannon joined IAOM in June 2009, as the director of meetings and
exhibits. Originally from Independence, Missouri, Shannon has extensive
conference, meeting and event planning experience from her previous
positions at Cerner Corporation, American Business Women’s Association,
University of Missouri-Kansas City, and the National Association of
Insurance Commissioners. She has a bachelor’s degree in fashion:
textiles and clothing in business, from the University of Central
Missouri, in Warrensburg, Missouri. She is a member of the Heartland
chapter of Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), where
she received the PCMA Heartland Chapter “Makes it Happen” award in 2002.
She currently serves as a board member for MoKan Greyhound Adoption.
Carol Shankel
Director of Professional Development
Carol joined the
IAOM staff in October 2011, as director of professional development.
Carol is not a new face to the milling industry and IAOM, as she was the
independent consultant hired to assist IAOM with the revision of the
IAOM Correspondence Course in Flour Milling. She is responsible for
implementing services and programs providing skill development, industry
content, educational programs, and professional standards that address
the information and educational needs of IAOM members.
Prior to joining IAOM, she
had worked as an instructional designer and technical writer at HNTB
Corporation.

Dannell (Danni) Altman
Administrative Assistant
Danni joined IAOM in August 2011 as the headquarters' administrative
assistant. Danni coordinates general office operations for IAOM. Her key responsibilities include facilitating the correspondence
courses, maintaining member records, order fulfillment and bookkeeping.
Danni is also the point person for conference and short course
registration, and district event coordination. She has extensive
association experience, having worked previously at Applied Measurement
Professionals as an association database administrator.
She volunteers at the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department, and serves
as assistant scoutmaster for a Boy Scout troop. |
