Standing Committees

The next joint Committee meetings will be held in conjunction with the Pacific, Intermountain and Golden West Districts' meeting on August 13 in Spokane, Washington. 

 

Allied Trades Committee

The Allied Trades Advisory Committee represents the interests of IAOM associate members to the board of directors.

 


Education Committee

The primary purpose of the Education Committee is to provide educational materials through the process of writing and updating the correspondence course, technical handbooks, coordinating short courses and developing training seminars.  Also maintain open lines of communication with other committees: Technical, Food Protection, Personnel Issues, and other educational organizations; to identify common concerns and to work towards solutions.

 

The Education Committee will meet next on August 13, in Spokane, Washington.


Employee Relations Committee

The Employee Relations Committee’s purpose is to compile and review pertinent information and trends in the field of human resources and employee relations.  This information will be disseminated, as appropriate, to the IAOM membership in a timely and effective manner.

 

To fulfill its mission, the Committee will concentrate its efforts in the following areas:

  • Government legislation and court rulings affecting employee relations

  • National Labor Relations Board rulings and trends

  • Management programs affecting employee productivity, education and morale

  • Arbitration rulings and other employment related issues

  • Wage and benefit surveys

  • Substance abuse issues and training

  • Employee safety and health issues

Environmental, Health and Safety Committee

The Environmental, Health and Safety Committee’s primary purpose is to collect, analyze and disseminate pertinent environmental, health and safety information among the members of the committee and develop forums for communicating specific information throughout the entire membership.

 

The Environmental, Health & Safety Committee will meet next on August 13, in Spokane, Washington.


Food Protection Committee

To collect, evaluate, disseminate information on issues dealing with Food Protection.  This shall be accomplished by committee working groups organized to address specific issues.

 

Activities for the Committee

  • Establish subcommittee structure to cover the following areas:

  • Integrated Pest Management and Product Protection.

  • Encourage appropriate government agencies, academic and industry involvement in the research and implementation of food protection technologies.

  • Monitor and, when necessary, comment on the food protection regulatory research activities of government agencies.

  • Communicate structural equipment design and installation needs to suppliers of equipment, products and services.

  • Identify speakers on food protection for the annual technical conference and district meetings.

  • Provide food protection articles for IAOM Bulletin.

  • Review and, when necessary, modify these sections of the IAOM.

  • Respond to food protection questions put forth by IAOM members.

The Food Protection Committee will meet next in September, in Manhattan, Kan.


Global Strategies Committee

Formed in 2003, the Global Strategies Committee was established to develop a plan for improving services and investigating growth opportunities for IAOM around the world.

 

The Global Strategies Committee will meet next on April 29, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.


Technical Committee

The Technical Committee of the International Association of Operative Millers is dedicated to review common best practices in the cereal grain processing and related industries, and to disseminating the information to the membership.

 

The committee specifically addresses itself to the areas of process technology and grain quality, and promotes technical excellence in the milling industry.

 

The committee utilizes, but is not limited to, the following elements of implementation:

  • Substantial input into the selection of technical topics for the International Conference program, journal, website and any other educational forum.

  • Develop means and ascertain "best practice" in the industry.

  • Maintain communications with equipment manufacturers regarding the design, operation, and development of new and existing equipment.

The Technical Committee will meet next on August 13, in Spokane, Washington.

 

The committees require of each member open and frank discussions of all topics under consideration, while at the same time respecting Company confidentiality.
